I’ve been writing since I was 12. I had diaries, recording my experiences and thoughts. Journaling helps me reduce my stresses and enhance my self-awareness.

I create handmade books so others will get encouraged to write down their thoughts too and express their creativity through arts. Also, I believe in the artistry of tradition. I love anything that’s purely made by hand and materials you can touch and feel.

In a world of mass production, I want to offer something that is unique, deeply personal and timeless.

Papers and art supplies has always been my companion and they have a very special place in my heart.

Each book I made is a labor of love.

About the artist

I’m Mari - an artist, a bookbinder, and a seeker of beauty.

Although I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting, my heart ultimately led me toward the arts. I became a full-time artist in 2019 and have been exploring different creative forms ever since.

My journey into bookbinding started with curiosity and YouTube tutorials, which eventually inspired me to study the craft more seriously through specialized courses. Since 2022, bookbinding has become another meaningful part of my creative practice.

Why "Papeari"?

Papeari comes from the Spanish word "papel" which means paper and combined it with my name, "Mari".

Do you have pets?

Yes, a HANDFUL of cats and two dogs. I'm not living alone so no worries!
